On August 2, China Energy Engineering Group ("ENERGY China") and VNET Group (NASDAQ: VNET) entered into a mega-hydrogen energy utilization and comprehensive scientific and technological innovation project partnership. This is the first major hydrogen fuel cell power generation project which is ENERGY China's implementation of China's "3060" Carbon-Zero goal.
The project is located in Fangshan District of Beijing, covering an area of 200 acres (133,200 square meters), with an investment of over 10 billion RMB. It is planned to build a 20,000-cabinet data center, a 150Mw hydrogen fuel cell power generation and integrated energy supply station, with an annual output of 80 sets of hydrogen fuelcell production line and green hydrogen equipment performance evaluation technology innovation center.
The project is driven by hydrogen energy to realize Zero-Carbon emission of data centers, and help the development of digital economy such as industrial interconnection, consumer interconnection and intelligent computing supercomputing in Fangshan and Beijing.
ENERGY China announced on November 26, 2021 that it intends to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary, ENERGY China Hydrogen Development Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 5 billion RMB and registered in Beijing. In February 2022, Energy China North China Institute announced the establishment of the Hydrogen Research Institute (Hydrogen Research Center). Led by the Vice President and Chief Engineer of Energy China North China Institute, the institute has formed a scientific research team with multi-level and multi-professional high-end talents as the backbone.
