Mackmyra partners with WISER for the market-expansion into China

Updated: May 31

2024 March 30- Stockholm/Guangzhou, Mackmyra Svensk Whisky AB ('Mackmyra"), and WISER, announced to enter into a partnership agreement for the market-expansion into China.

Mackmyra is a public company listed in Nasdaq First North market. As a well-known single-malt whisky producer in Sweden, from the outset Mackmyra was fully focused on creating a whisky which was quintessentially Swedish. The journey began with local barley, spring water and Swedish oak. Then, thanks to a lucky coincidence, Mackmyra developed the 30-litre cask which, in its smaller format, allows the whisky to mature more intensively.

Today, Mackmyra produces whisky with the same curiosity and experimental zeal as in 1999, but now in the ground-breaking Gravity Distillery, which harnesses the force of gravity to aid production and is designed to substantially reduce the carbon footprint. Guided by the historical knowledge of whisky production, Mackmyra employs its own methods to create innovative products using Swedish ingredients.

As the largest winery market in the world, Chinese people are used to its local strong alcohol, Chinese Baijiu, with a history over 2000 years. In recent years, imported red wine and whisky become more popular to the young generation. In China, the whisky market is dominated by several brands from Scotland, Japan and USA.

"We have been focused in the Nordics and China market in past decade. Mackmyra will be the first Nordic whisky brand to China, and we look forward to join its growth journey in the local market." says Mr Kevin Chen, Managing Director of WISER.
